THEME DEVELOPMENT
Cover
When we started brainstorming for this year's book, we were very set on what we wanted the visual theme to look like. We did not have much of an idea at first for our verbal theme, but throughout the summer, our visual elements stayed relatively similar. I am extremely proud of how our cover looks because I have never seen anything like it in a yearbook before. Something I am also very proud of is how similar how cover stayed after a lot of theme development and advice from MIPA and the Herff Jones Workshop. I could not be happier with the cover and how the visual theme stays consistent throughout the entire book.
Front Endsheet
The biggest thing that changed with our front endsheet is the color scheme. On the cover, there is a tear, revealing the yellow underneath which is essentially 'revealing' the rest of the book. We decided to make the front endsheet fully yellow to make sure there is consistency in the book. Other than that, the changes were more minor and it looks relatively similar to the original one. I think this is a very bright and attractive spread and it will definitely grab the attention of the reader once they open the book.
Spread
This year, we decided to try and use all of the white space we could on a spread. We were also committed to making quick, easy to read mods that people could take a quick glance at while going through the book. The biggest thing that changed from our initial spread template to the current one we have is the dominant package. We decided to do individual captions to break up long paragraphs of text and we also decided to make the dominant package smaller. This way, we are able to cover more events and people on one spread.
